La Panadería is a bakery located in Querétaro, Mexico, thoughtfully integrated with the historic aqueduct that defines the city’s landscape. Following a site visit and the design concept emerged to preserve and reactivate this abandoned monument, using architecture as a bridge to reconnect the community with its heritage.
The aqueduct plays a central role in the experience: visitors enter the bakery through the roof, creating a memorable sensory journey that engages both smell and sight from the moment of arrival. In collaboration with GOMA, whose designs are monumental gestures in concrete, La Panadería embraces a minimalist material palette and bold, soft forms. The resulting space embodies a quiet strength and elegance, reflective of GOMA’s architectural language, while celebrating the historic and cultural richness of its context.
